Aztec Hot Chocolate

This recipe is a replica of the drink flavoured by the Aztecs during the fifteenth century. It is absent of some of the more exotic old world flavours that are no longer consumed in the modern day, but still features the major flavourings in the spicy beverage.

 Ingredients:

75g of 100% cocoa liquor buttons or the highest percentage chocolate bar available (75-99% preferably)

1 tsp of Vanilla Extract 

1 Chilli Pepper chopped finely 

1 tsp of Cinnamon 

1 tsp of Allspice 

200ml Water or Milk depending on taste. 

Prep Time: 5 minutes                      Serves: 4                                Ability: Easy 

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Method

  1. Place all ingredients in a saucepan and heat up until all cocoa buttons are melted.

  2. Serve hot.
